One of the stories, and soundtracks, that has been a huge inspiration to me has been Fullmetal Alchemist, a graphic novel series by Hiromu Arakawa. As my novel deals a lot with concepts like alchemy and homunculi, I've very closely observed the characters of the homunculi in FMA, and I have found them for the most part to be beautifully tragic characters. As a result, the primary inspiration I have found from this graphic novel has been in character, and most notably, villain, development. Having struggled with fairly one dimensional villains, I've been really working on bettering this part of my writing.
Thanks to Arakawa-sensei's inspiration, I have begun to believe there might be hope for me.
